The Senator...
The Senator and I had just arrived in Vancouver at the start of our one month assignment to the 2010 Winter Olympics. We had Saturday afternoon free after our briefing. We had just gotten off of the shuttle in Gas Town.
I pulled out my BlackBerry, opened the map and found the flagship store of a major American motorcycle brand. "We can walk there!" I said, not paying attention to the map scale.
2 hours later, we stumbled into the shop. Not only were there dozens of bikes on the showroom floor, there was at least as much space devoted to apparel and accessories that were about celebrating the ride. Not to be outdone, I found out my favourite brand's local dealer was only a few walkable blocks away.
We walked in, and the Senator looked at me. He didn't laugh, but I could see it on his face. Embarrassing. A t-shirt, a ball cap, a key ring.
Fast forward ahead. The Valley of the Sun is now home. It is also home to one of the physically largest bar and shield brand stores in the world. The housewares department is bigger than the whole showroom of my favourite brand dealer back in Vancouver.
What about the rest of us?
I ride another brand of motorcycle, but I still want to celebrate my rides! Why can't I have the coasters, the picture frames, all of the things I found in the housewares department at those flagship stores?
Motorcyclian's mission is to fill the gap. We will create products that we will celebrate our rides with!
